This project aims to investigate the impacts to fish and critical fish habitat in two of our participating First Nations. Through this project, local fishermen and knowledge holders will be interviewed about changes they've witnessed to the quality and quantity of the various fish species they harvest, as well as changes to the water quality. This traditional and local knowledge will then be summarized and provided to the community. LWIC will use this data to inform policy discussions as well as future protection/restoration initiatives on Lake Winnipeg.
This project is sponsored by the Wa-Ni-Ska-Tan Hydro Impacted communities alliance.
