Youth Culture Camp

August 20st – 23th, 2018 in Misipawistik Cree Nation

 

The Lake Winnipeg Indigenous Collective youth camp will bring together Indigenous youth from around Lake Winnipeg to learn about how the sacred waters provide for cultural, spiritual, and recreational needs of First Nations communities. LWIC Fish Habitat

From July 17th-20th, LWIC will be conducting an assessment of the impacts to fish and fish habitat by interviewing local knowledge holders in Fisher River Cree Nation. This project is in partnership with the Fisher River Cree Nation and supported through the generous funding of the Wa-Ni-Ska-Tan Hydro Alliance.

Honeymoon Lake Camp by Ron Cook

LWIC is happy to announce that we are hosting a youth gathering at the Misipawistik Culture Camp from August 21st to 24th. Thanks to the generous sponsorship by the Northern Manitoba Food, Culture, and Community Collaborative, LWIC is able to provide a 60% subsidy on mileage for chaperones and 100% of the costs of meals and lodging at the camp. Activities planned include traditional teachings, tours, science activities, and fishing workshops on the water.
